Our South Shore location, with a 55
minute train ride to NYC and excellent housing stock, are additional incentives for
business and business people to settle here.
Copiague residents have access to ocean and bay beaches,
sport fishing, boating and many other outdoor activities. Copiague is the site of the
largest public park within the Township and hosts many spectator and exhibition events.
The Copiague Public Schools have a complete K-12 enrollment with a high level of academic
success among its students who also provide a suitable population for entry-job
applicants. The Chamber maintains liaison with the Copiague High School Guidance
Department who can assist in screening applicants for employment in the community.
The Copiague Memorial Public Library is celebrated in the
region for its outstanding programs and is located on a two acre site within walking
distance to the spot where George Washington stayed during his tour of Long Island during
the Revolutionary War.
The Copiague Chamber of Commerce will attempt to promote an
awareness campaign within the community to:
- Provide "start-up" information from local business,
lawyers, accountants and other professional Chamber members.
- Identify and match community needs and opportunities while
encouraging existing businesses/services, etc. to diversify and occupy existing vacant
facilities.
- Develop and promote networking among the local
business/service establishments.
- Combine and coordinate beautification projects and civic
events among community organizations to enhance our hamlet's public image and increase
residents' pride.
- Develop and maintain a Copiague Chamber of Commerce Web site
to promote business in Copiague.
- Provide information regarding compliance with local laws and
ordinances for potential businesses while acting as liaison with State, County and Town
governmental officials.
- Continue efforts with Suffolk County and the Town of Babylon
officials to develop and beautify our downtown area.
- Encourage the Copiague Public School District to develop among
students an awareness of the business community and its importance in career pursuits
through work/study programs for high school students. Diploma credit through a high school
work/study program is a reality via specific training opportunities. Copiague High School
has had great success in the Vocational/Industrial Cooperative program (VICA) and the
Distributive Educational Cooperative program (DECA) sponsored by the New York State
Department of Education.
- "MARKET" Copiague as a great community in which to
live and trumpet its economic appeal to any new business assessing its success potential
here. Copiague is on the march and its Chamber of Commerce is in step toward a quality
lifestyle with positive business awards.
The Chamber's office will centralize all activities
enumerated above. Residents and the general public will enjoy a single source of
identifying and locating business/service merchant referrals and future events. Visitors
can be directed to local sites of interest along with recreational amenities and fine
dining. Potential business developers will have a place to meet fellow business owners,
visit business sites and establish communication to assist economic planning.
Your input and/or ideas for other productive uses for our
Chamber's office and Web site are welcome.
