Outlook Express

These instructions allow you to download your SuffolkWeb mail to Outlook Express which comes with most versions of Windows.

WARNING:  Make sure you have an up-to-date anti-virus running, as Outlook Express may auto-preview messages with viruses.

From the Outlook Express window, click on Tools, then Accounts, and then the Mail tab. Click on Add and then Mail. This brings you to the 'Mail" wizard.

POP3 server: pophost.suffolk.lib.ny.us

SMTP server: (use smtp server for your provider, e.g. mail-hub.optonline.net)

POP account name: mmouse

We do not recommend entering your SuffolkWeb password

(Effective 12/31/07) Since Suffolk no longer provides an ISP access, in order to send mail using Outlook or Outlook Express, you must use the SMTP (mail server) for your Internet Service Provider (ISP).  IF your line to the internet is provided by Cablevision, you would use mail-hub.optonline.net in the SMTP server box.  If you use Verizon, AOL or another provider, you must find out the name of their SMTP server if they provide one.

A new account will be created in Outlook Express called Mickey's Mail. From the Outlook Express window, click on Tools and then Options to set up specific Mail Options.
